This weekend, Lowry will host some of the best basketball teams in Northern Nevada when the 2A and 3A regional tournaments come to town.

Both the 2A and 3A Boys and girls tournaments are in Winnemucca this weekend. They are expected to draw up to 10,000 people to Winnemucca for the event.

Vice Principal of Lowry High School, Tim Connors, said this regional tournament will be hosted by Lowry better than any other school in Nevada and will help the local businesses and economy.

“The most important part of this tournament is that it draws people into the community and supports Lowry, and it will host this tournament better than any place in Nevada. More importantly, is the impact that tournaments like this have on our local businesses and economy. With that being said, we generally will plan on having around 10,000 people coming to this great community this weekend,” said Connors.

The 2A Tournament will begin at LHS on Friday at 3:00 p.m., while the 3A Tournament will begin on Thursday at the Event Center at 3:00 p.m. and will continue with semi-finals at 3:00 PM on Friday. The championship games will all be played at the Event Center on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Lady Bucks have a first-round bye and will play Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Event Center. If they win that game, they will move into the Championship, which is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
