Lowry softball combats the elements and defeats West Wendover

With sporadic snowstorms and fast traveling gusts of wind, spring weather seems to be nowhere in sight. That was no exception on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 pm at which time the Lowry softball team prepared for their game against West Wendover on Lowry’s home field. Saturday, March 19, 2010, Lowry softball defeated West Wendover with a score of 21-0 ending in the fifth inning.

Although the weather was not permitting, Lowry persevered through the elements and despite the chill of the wind, encouraged one another and led a fast-paced scoring streak.

Regarding their win, junior Sydnie Sundahl said, “I think we have good team chemistry, we all know how each other play […] so it’s pretty easy to pick up where they’re [team members] going to be.”

Even though the game ended after the fifth inning due to Lowry’s dramatic lead, Sundahl acknowledges that there is always room for improvement.

“We need to learn how to finish games and how to end the innings. We always get two outs and on the very last out there are usually a couple of girls that get on base before we get the third out,” said Sundahl.

The following game took place on Tuesday, March 22 in which Lowry defeated Lovelock. Lowry will be back in action again on Friday, March 25 against Fallon and Dayton.
