Saturday, April 12, the Lowry swim team traveled to South Tahoe’s home pool to compete against the Wooster High Colts and South Tahoe Vikings in a three-way dual match. Coming off a loss against Truckee High gave the Buckaroos the motivation to not let losing be an option.

The Bucks flew through each race and dominated. One of the most impressive performances was made by AJ Jackson in the 500m free with a zone qualifying time of 6:54 and the qualifying time is 7:17. Olivia Snow also had a qualifying time of 1:25.79 and the limit is 1:25.89 in the 100m breast stroke. After the meet, the swimmers of the week were Dusty Thiede and Olivia Snow.

After the final team scores were tallied Lowry’s boys and girls came on top ahead of the second-place team, Wooster High. The boy’s final score was 132 to 91 and the girl’s final score was 136 to 131.

Coach Mike Owens said, “I thought it was an awesome meet. The high altitude is hard on you, so swimming takes on a whole new characteristic.”

Lowry looks to continue their great performance at their next meet in Reno against Fallon on May 5.
