A couple thrillers and an annihilation summarizes the Lowry-Spring Creek softball series this past weekend in Spring Creek. With Lowry taking the series winning two 6-5, 23-1 and losing one 7-6.

The Buckaroos rallied against the Spartans only to come away empty-handed on Friday, April 22, 2011. The Lady Bucks were angry about the loss they suffered on Friday and they came back ready to dominate.

“We need to work on playing three solid games, we have been having problems with that,” said Lowry coach Ty Lucas. “I feel that we are a hard team to beat when we are playing like we are capable, and I was confident we could stick with this team, if not beat them.”

In game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, Lowry came out cranking the ball, Madi Gonzalez got on base with a single to right field, and Jenae Neu reached first on a fielder’s choice due to the Spartans third baseman choosing to hold Gonzalez at second.

With two on Dana Pardovich ran the score up as she smashed a three-run homerun.

In the top of the second, Lowry more than doubled their score with yet another three-run blast over the fence. This time this homer was hit by Gonzalez as she found a pitch she could drive.

Slowly but surely Spring Creek started to climb back into this game, with a solo home-run hit by Brittany Carr, and continued to increase. Still down 7-3 the Spartans tried once more to take the win from the Buckaroos.

The Spartans were within a point of tying the ball game with Madi Estes on third with only one out with an infield single sent back to Lowry’s pitcher Shannon McClellan. Estes had taken a big lead on third and McClellan threw her out at third. The next batter hit a fly ball to right fielder Heather McElvain to end the inning and the game.

In the final game, Lowry’s bats stayed hot, while Spring Creek maintained problems. The Buckaroos scored seven in the first inning and only two more in the following four innings.

The Lady Bucks chased Jordan Garcia out of the circle in the fourth inning and had no problem dominating Brittany Carr in the pitcher’s circle as well.

“We prepared for Jordan this whole week in practice, “Lucas said of the Spring Creek pitcher”.

In the finale, Lowry dominated to win 23-1, and the lady bucks came away with the series win.
