Movie Review: ‘Date Night ‘

By Sierra Sherburn Posted May 18, 2010

On April 9, 2010, the movie “Date Night” was released. The movie stars Steve Carell, who plays Phil Foster, and Tina Fey, who plays the wife Claire Foster. The film was directed by Shawn Levy. It is a “screwball comedy” film.

The plot of the story is a married couple (Phil and Claire Foster) trying to spice up their marriage after finding out that their best friends are divorcing each other. The Fosters come to realize that everything in their marriage is a routine. Once every week, they go out on a date night, and go to dinner at the same steak house, and then make their way to a movie. Trying to steer away from a boring routine, Phil Foster decides to take his wife out to a new trendy restaurant. That is where they run into some trouble.

They didn’t make a reservation for the restaurant, so when they got there, they had absolutely no chance at getting a table. But luckily for them, or so they thought, they were able to get a table when the Triplehorns did not show up for their reservation. The Fosters were able to play off as the Triplehorns, but they soon find out that the Triplehorns are the last people that they want to be known as.

In the middle of their fancy dinner, two men come up to the Fosters and say that they need to go outside with them. When they get outside, the two men request a memory stick, which the Triplehorns had stolen from them.

The Fosters go through many different and challenging obstacles to try and get away from the “bad guys”. It is hard work.

“Date Night” was actually very funny. Steve Carell and Tina Fey were great in this film. It was very intriguing. I would definitely recommend it.
