When walking the halls of Lowry, it is difficult to miss a 6’5” redhead, whom most would see as a basketball player, which he is; but not many would think of Nathan Lutzow as drama’s Performer of the Year.

The drama teacher, Mrs. Corrine James explained why Lutzow is the Performer of the Year.

“He is solid. He is an awesome actor and his voice is amazing. He can take a character and ground it to his center core, which is amazing. He works hard and is very dedicated to his art. He never misses practices, comes early, and leaves late. He spends extra time outside of class time and practices to nail his part,” said James.

During his one year as a drama student, Lutzow has performed as many characters. One of his more notable characters is his character in ’EW!’, one of his comedic skits in which he and another student wore dresses and described almost anything as “EW!”.

James continued about why Lutzow is such a great performer.

“Nathan is a joy to work with and he is polite, kind, and humble. His respect for me as his director is fantastic. His presence will be greatly missed once he graduates. I am extremely proud of his growth and maturity as an actor over the past two years,” said James.

One of Lutzow’s fellow actors, Mickey Donovan talked about Lutzow’s prowess as an actor.

“Well, basically he exceeded all expectations this year. He surprised us all with his talent and he stepped up whenever we needed him to. He brought a unique energy and loudness to the stage that attracted the audience and inspired the other actors. He was a very pleasant surprise this year,” Donovan said.

Lutzow said that his inspiration to join drama was being in stagecrafts and seeing all the drama students and he wanted to be a part of that.
Lutzow spoke about what he enjoys about being in drama.

“My favorite part about it is getting to hang out with my friends and have a good time and everyone getting to laugh at something,” he said.

His favorite performance was the senior skit because he enjoyed making people laugh.

Lutzow showed his gratefulness for being the Performer of the Year.

“I feel thankful because there are many other drama students that could have gotten this and i think they are well deserving of this honor,” he said.

Lutzow said that his family shows a lot of support for him.

He said that they go to at least one of every single performance of his and he has to thank his younger brother for coming to almost every show.

After high school, Lutzow plans to attend Truckee Meadows Community College and “kick it with the bros in Reno.”
