Sneak Preview: Lowry Boys JV Basketball

This year’s JV basketball team looks strong with a sophomore based team and a few talented freshmen.

This year’s team includes the eight Sophomores: Tyler Brumm; Jeremiah Maestrejuan; Ephram Waite; Chris Miller; Donovan Campbell; Kelton Robbins; Chris Dendary; and Fernando Mendoza; and four freshmen: Josh Watterson, Calvin Connors, Tanner Lecumberry, and Tytus Millikan. The team is deep in the roster with talented players at both the post like Dendary, Watterson, and Mendoza, and at the guard position, the Bucks have Brumm, Connors and Millikan, and a few more good players at both spots.

“It’s going to be a good year,” said sophomore Tyler Brumm,”we have some good talent and it’s going to be fun.”

With new varsity head coach Chad Peters, there is a new emphasis on defense this year for all the boys’ basketball teams.

“Not that past teams haven’t played tough defense, there is just more of an emphasis on it this year,” said coach Don Walton.

The JV boys look to run the same offense that they have run in the past years because it has been successful thus far (the team will have to try and get things together early in the season knowing that they have to play some tough schools from the AAAA including McQueen and Hug for the beginning of the season.) Coach Walton hopes that having a hard early season will help the team improve and play better towards the end of the season.
