Over a three-day span last weekend, the Lowry varsity softball team traveled to Sacramento, California for the Elk Grove Tournament.

The girls got off to a rough start on Thursday with a 13-5 loss to Fallon. On Friday the Bucks came back strong and ended the day with two ties against Rhaghetti (3-3) and Oak Ridge (5-5), who was the defending California 2A State Champs. To start their Saturday, the Bucks earned an 11-7 win against Folsom, with a Hana Etcheverry grand slam being the difference in the score. The Bucks ended the weekend with a loss to McQueen.

“We played really well, but we need to really work on our defense and we need to take the game seriously, but we are looking forward to a great season,” said junior third baseman Hana Etcheverry.

“We expected to go into California as the underdogs, but when we got there we actually competed, which was nice to see,” said Etcheverry.
