Student-Athlete of the Week: Josiah Chapman

This week, the Student-Athlete of the Week, chosen by Coach Austin Mayo, is Josiah Chapman for freshman football. Most know Josiah as a happy and fun-spirited student, but he is also an outstanding and talented football player. Chapman always shows up to practice with a positive attitude that rubs off on the rest of the team.

“Everyone on that team stands out in one way or another. But Chapman, when you watch him play, he’s constantly around the ball, he’s constantly giving 100% and he’s always going 100 miles per hour. He plays both ways defensively and offensively but he plays a position where when he’s on the defensive line or offensive line you might not always notice him but he goes to work every day and he’s not one that needs the recognition but he still makes a huge impact,” said Mayo.

Mayo went on to say that Chapman has always been there to work and he may mess around sometimes but he knows when it’s time to work, and when he’s in the zone he’s focused and ready to go.

Mayo also said that no matter what, he and the team can always count on Chapman to do his job and make a huge impact on the game.
