What to Watch: Winter Olympics

By Alyssa Campbell January 24, 2014

Coming up February 7 through February 23 are the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. People around the world wait all year for these events. The Olympics have always been very popular to watch for many people around the world and now this year’s Olympics have high expectations.

There are many events in the competition for this winter including alpine skiing, the biathlon, bobsleighing, cross-country skiing, curling, freestyle skiing, luge, Nordic combined, short-tracked speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, and speed skating. There are also my personal favorites: ice hockey, snowboarding, and figure skating. Shaun White is anticipated to do very well in snowboarding and is the athlete to watch in snowboarding while in figure skating the Russians Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Tranvok are likely to do very well.

Millions of people around the world will be tuning in to watch this year’s Olympics. The Olympics this year are expected to be very competitive and intense and are something that you do not want to miss. So don’t forget to tune in on NBC February 7 to watch the whole competition go down and make sure you don’t miss all the action.
