On Friday, January 6, Lowry wrestlers traveled to Nampa, Idaho. They had to compete against teams from all over the Western United States. They had all the varsity wrestlers compete together and were placed third overall.
Rollie Lane is one of the biggest wrestling tournaments that the wrestlers traveled to this year, along with the T.O.C. Lowry wrestlers worked their butts off and eventually came out on top. Jace Billingsley was named an outstanding wrestler. They finished third out of 97 schools.
During the tournament, Michael Billingsley placed third in the170 pound weight class and Jace Billingsley placed second in his 160 weight class.
Jace said, “We have never won this tournament before and had more people than ever place so it was overall a really good performance by the team.”
The coaches were proud of their wrestlers.
“The team did an awesome job; they wrestled their best and finally placed and won the tournament,” said coach John Brooks and coach Brant Corak added, “When going into the tournament I felt really good about all of my boys, they all did work and came out on top.”
