Anime and Manga and why it’s awesome

Many may have heard of anime but have no idea what it is; well anime is a Japanese television/film animation aimed mostly at adults and children. Anime for the general public in Western-style culture is viewed in many different ways from the traditional cartoons we watch daily. Whether it may be some of the explicit content relating to adult themes not normally shown in the West; anime can be interpreted for the viewer however they see fit. For me, anime is something I’ve grown to love and spread to others as being a passionate experience to share with everyone and make others laugh and learn more about themselves.

Since the start of the 20th century, the early creators such as Ōten Shimokawa, Jun’ichi Kōuchi, and Seitaro Kitayama are known as “the creators of anime” with early propaganda films during World War II being the first instances of anime. Later on in the 1970s anime took a different route separating itself from the well-known Western style roots of being friendly for younger viewers and the general public as a whole. Developing its own genres such as mecha, shonen, martial arts, josei, seinen, shoujo, and many others. Each genre has its own take on life and can be aimed at a wide variety of audiences ranging from younger kids, teens, and even adults including the elderly.

If you enjoy the psychological, intense fighting, love stories targeting both genders, ridiculous yet funny plots, and even ranging from the time of feudal Japan then search no more. Anime has such a wide variety to choose from and there’s no doubt about it.

If you’re not interested in watching it and prefer to read it that privilege is given in the form of manga. Similar in some ways to comic books yet using different techniques to entice the readers manga can be enjoyable for many who prefer to be book nerds.

With all of this in consideration, you will become the ultimate anime nerd!
