Many people are stuck on artists that they’ve been listening to for quite some time or are stubborn about who and what they listen to. But it isn’t all that bad to listen to some new genres or artists. It’s good to expand your horizons. A good place to start is an artist named Tori Kelly.

Tori Kelly is a California born, talent show veteran who became a D.I.Y. star through her Youtube videos. Her recognition can be traced all the way back to her cover of “Thinkin’ Bout You” by Frank Ocean, where it received 17 million views. Since she was 14, she was posting covers of songs via Youtube. Proving she had a paying fanbase, she digitally released an album, “Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly”. She gained so much benefit out of it that she acquired a manager and a record deal with Capitol Records. Her first legit album was her EP “Foreword” in 2013. In 2015, Kelly released her first full-length debut album “Unbreakable Smile”, which was so good that it debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200.

Not only is Tori Kelly a talented musician and artist, but she is genuine with her music. The lyrics are catchy and moving, all because they’re songs you can relate to and some, can even be eye-opening. Unlike most artists, she writes every lyric of every song. From the songs with the calm guitar chords or upbeat melodies to the virtuous voice of hers, Tori Kelly is and forever will be worthy of having a spot on your playlist.
