How to come out on top

Although success is handed to some individuals, it does not necessarily mean they are the most successful. Even individuals born into a wealthy and successful environment could lose to another individual who works harder. You can, and will achieve some success with the appropriate determination and the ability to “out-work” your competitors.

Actor Will Smith has been extremely successful merely by hard work and he gives plenty of advice to those individuals looking to achieve the same sort of success.

“ I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there are two things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die,” said Will Smith in an interview with Tavis Smiley on his “Tavis Talks” public radio show.

Individuals willing to go the extra mile will be recognized. Smith states that he’d rather have someone working for him that does a horrible job but gives 110% than an individual giving 60%. You can be born into a successful or rich family, but that does not mean you will die successful and rich. Incompetence and laziness can lead to the loss of both success and money. These traits often lead to ultimate failure when one already possesses success, attention seeking individuals who portray these traits along with a lack of respect and no motivation to further excel can lead to their ultimate downfall.

“You’re not going to out-work me. It’s such a simple, basic concept. The majority of people who aren’t getting the places they want or aren’t achieving the things that they want in this business are strictly based on hustle. It’s strictly based on being outworked; it’s strictly based on missing crucial opportunities. I say all the time if you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready,” continued Smith in his interview.

When you are determined you achieve your goals, you must work hard which betters yourself, and your abilities. Always improving to be one step ahead of your competitor. Individuals like Steve Jobs were not handed success at all, in fact, Jobs dropped out of college after six months and with determination and hard work, he created Apple Corporation. Steve Jobs isn’t the only person who started from nothing and built themselves up to reach ultimate success, other individuals such as Oprah Winfrey, Henry Ford, and Mark Zuckerberg also used motivation to pursue their goals. If you wish to leave a legacy similar to that of these notable individuals you have to begin working hard immediately.
