Mr. Dave Munk has selected Corbin Berezay as the Performer of the Issue. Berezay has been in the choir for the past four years and has proven to be an excellent member. Many qualities about Berezay have stood out to Mr. Munk.
“Corbin has been in choir for four years and has excelled in all of them,” said Mr. Munk. “In addition to being a fine performer, Corbin has a pleasant, easy-going personality and gets along with everyone.”
For Berezay, the choir is more than just performing and learning songs. Over the past four years, he has bonded with the other choir members and formed friendships with them.
“I think it’s the people for me,” said Berezay. “This is my fourth year now, so getting to know those people and becoming friends with them.”
Due to his versatility, Berezay can cover many different areas. He is skilled in multiple choir parts, and when a part is missing, he can fill in.
“Corbin has been able to perform both bass and tenor parts, and that versatility helps out the choir by covering parts that are needed that we, otherwise, might be missing,” said Mr. Munk.
The choir travels to All-State every year, where they get to participate in singing various songs with other schools. Berezay has been able to go all four years and has enjoyed the experiences that are offered there.
“I am able to sing in a big group with everyone who has the same mindset,” said Berezay. “Honestly, singing with a bunch of other people because we have a pretty small choir, so it’s nice,”
Since Berezay’s freshman year, he has achieved a lot. His first year in choir was a good one, with him opening with his first solo. That same year, he was also given the chance to perform another solo. The most impressive accomplishment has to be that Berezay has made it into the all-state choir multiple years in a row.
“Corbin has sung a couple of solos with the choir,” said Mr. Munk. “His freshman year he opened ‘You Will be Found’ with a solo that was very well received, and then he had a solo in ‘Riders in the Sky. ’ Corbin has also made it into the all-state choir for three years straight.”
As for Berezay’s future, he has plans to continue on a musical path. He has created a YouTube channel that will allow him to show off the songs he will create.
“I am starting a YouTube channel, and I am going to start making songs,” said Berezay.
