No one knows what his real name is maybe it’s Macbeth

Maybe Doctor Frankenstein; wait, is it Cleopatra? To the government, he is known as Mickey Donovan. Whichever name you know him by, Donovan is the Performer of the Issue because of his outstanding work in Drama.

He started drama in the spring of his sophomore year. It was at that time he became Mrs. Corrine James’ star.

“I started drama halfway through my sophomore year because the play was ‘Suess Odyssey’ and the lead role was Tanner Lucemberry and he had a basketball game one night of the play. So three days before the play Mrs. James said ‘Mickey, why don’t you be the lead role and remember like 200 lines in three days’. So I did and I did really good so she said ‘you’re in drama’,” said Donovan.

The next year he took on many major roles. He played Macbeth in “Macbeth” and Cleopatra, an ugly stepsister, in “Cinderella”. He is starting off the first play of his senior year starring as Doctor Victor von Frankenstein.

“My favorite role was Macbeth by far because it was so powerful and intense. Macbeth was fun everyone was on the same level, everyone was super pumped and really intense with it,” said Donovan.

With all the lead roles Donovan took on, he had to memorize hundreds of lines and it is still a hard, time consuming process.

Other students in drama also notice Donovan’s ability to master his lines.

“It’s really impressive to see Mickey on stage during class without a script and hitting all of his lines,” said Camryn Maher.

Besides drama, Donovan also participates in baseball and art and he is an outstanding student.

“I perform during baseball, I always entertain the people of baseball,” said Donovan.
On a more serious note he added, “I played JV my freshman year and I played varsity my sophomore and junior year. I plan to play varsity this year, hopefully Espy will, you know, pull some strings for me.”

Both his peers and the community can see Donovan’s talent and appreciate his personality.

“Mickey is a great actor. He’s been in drama for three years and he really gets himself into into character,” said Nathan Lutzlow.

Nate Chapman added, “He’s not just a great actor, he’s a great human being. He has a beautiful soul and kind spirit.”
