A current sophomore at Lowry, Donovan Swanson (better known to most as Donny), has created a piece of artwork for the U.S. Army. Swanson has spent the last couple of weeks creating this piece of work and is waiting for the Army to come down and accept it.
“The welding part of this piece took me about a week, and the metal work took a couple of hours. All of the yellow paint was hand-painted by Mr. Anderson himself,” said Swanson.
U.S Army Recruiter Jonathan L. Serna had met Donny at a meet and greet event at Lowry.
“I remember walking around with Donny at lunch and saying that his dad was in the Army before. Donny told me he was in welding and said he was interested in making something for us,” said Serna.
This is the first piece that Swanson has done for the Army.
“I plan to make stuff for them in the future if they want me to,” said Swanson.
After all of Swanson’s hard work, he is finally done with this table piece, and the Army has accepted it, and they will use it for many years to come.
