What to Watch: UEFA Champions League Final

By Weston Irons, Posted May 10, 2016

On Saturday May, 28, two clubs from the same city will square off in the Champions League Final. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will meet again after playing each other in the same competition and stage only two years ago. Although Atletico Madrid held strong throughout the entire contest in 2014, Real Madrid leveled the game in the 90 minutes to make it 1-1. The game ended 4-1 to Real Madrid in extra time. This is an opportunity for Atletico Madrid to avenge that earlier loss and make their rivals pay.

Real Madrid have always been known as a dominant team. They have it all, a star-studded roster, a rich history of winning for the past 100-odd years, a fan base that extends throughout the world, and a budget as impressive as their stadium. After losing the La Liga title to Barcelona just last weekend, they will be extremely hungry for some silverware. And where else to earn that than the Champions League final, one of the biggest stages in the world of sports? Real Madrid does not lack world-class players they have world-class players in every position. They are a very well-rounded team and are especially known for their strong front three Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid will be very tough to stop but if anyone could do it, Atletico Madrid has a fairly good chance. Atletico has already shown that they can play with the big boys, eliminating many top-tier teams including the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Although Atletico has some good attacking players they are a more defensive team and they will be hoping for a low-scoring affair in their favor. Diego Godin will be a player to watch as he will head the defense and try and thwart the attacks of a dangerous team.

The Champions League never disappoints and this match will be no different, tune in to this match for an exciting conclusion to the Champions League season. You can catch this game on May 28 at 11:45 a.m. on Fox Sports.
