Varsity boys shoot till the end

The Lowry varsity boy’s basketball has had its ups and downs throughout their season but they fought hard for every score.

“This year was tough with all the new things thrown at us but we made it work the best we could and pushed through,” said Jaden Jimenez. “We have to look forward to the offseason and getting better and improving as a team and as individuals.”

Even if the season had not gone quite as planned, the boys worked well together, made good plays, and took their chances on the court.

“The overall season felt like a success, despite wins and losses,” said head coach Jesse Zamudio. “The team worked extremely hard daily, not only to grow their basketball skills and IQ, but to grow as a team and learn how to play together. We had a lot of fun together and I couldn’t have asked to coach a better group of young men.”

Jack DeLong has been on varsity for two years. Now as a senior, he used his experiences from last year to improve to this year and much more in his basketball career.

Dempsey Jenkins has been on varsity for two years and will miss the bonds.

“I am going to miss the coaches, and all the friends I have made through basketball,” said Jenkins.

For Jenkins overnighters are his favorite part of playing basketball.

“I love going on overnighters with all my teammates,” said Jenkins. “We usually go to dinner we go around whatever town we’re in, and we have lots of fun all being together.”

Jenkins takes considerable pride in their last game against the Fernley Vaqueros.

“It was such a good game, we came back and fought twice as hard,” said Jenkins. “When we finally ball started to work together everything came together.”

Kasyn Garner and Anthony Guzman were selected to the 3A North Honorable Mention team.
