Senior Jada Matheny is Student-Athlete of the Week, chosen by coach Austin Mayo for her growth in the game and her leadership skills.
“She’s really stepped up her leadership, and her mental approach to the game is night and day from the way it was last year,” said coach Mayo. “She has really embraced her role and is performing at a high level for us.”
Matheny is very excited about being awarded Student-Athlete of the Week for softball. Matheny has been playing softball since she was seven years old.
Matheny is most inspired by her loved ones for their supportive ways.
“My biggest motivation for softball is my family,” said Matheny. “They have always been supportive of me and love coming to watch me play.”
One of Matheny’s favorite aspects of softball is her teammates.
“My favorite part of softball is my teammates,” said Matheny. “They are what make playing the sport so special and fun.”
Matheny aims to attend university after high school.
“I plan on attending Boise State University next year and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Social work,” said Matheny.
