As October was National Energy Awareness Month, President Barack Obama did his best to ensure that citizens understand his efforts for a more efficient America.

Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality Nancy Sutley have announced that solar panels and a solar water heater will be added to the White House roof this spring. Along with many other projects that are in full-swing, President Obama, The Department of Energy, The Department of the Interior and multiple other cabinets are taking one step at a time for an environmentally healthier nation.

“We’re installing solar panels on the White House, building the largest solar energy power plant in the world on our public lands, and proposing the first-ever greenhouse gas and fuel efficiency standards for heavy-duty cars and trucks,” said Carol Browner, The Assistant to The President for Energy and Climate Change.
