Tips For Teachers

By Tanner Ames Posted February 19, 2014

For those of you teachers who are new, or maybe just want to try to improve, I took it upon myself to try and help out, with what I think are some pretty good tips.

Tip 1: Always have extra credit assignments available, for those who need, or just want to try to get their grade up a bit. There is nothing worse than getting a 79% or an 89% when there are no more assignments for the rest of the quarter.

Tip 2: Have control over your classroom and have fair rules. There is always room for fun, but when there’s work to be done, get it done.

Tip 3: Reward your students who do well. Most kids think there is no reward in school, so a candy bar or a party now and then is always a good thing.

Tip 4: Have homework, but not too much. It’s hard for students to get so many assignments done per night, plus that just gives teachers more to do. However, a little bit of homework is good for practice and it can be a good resource to come back to later.

Tip 5: Another topic on homework: Our work shouldn’t be revolved around a computer or a smartphone, for those students who don’t have these necessities.

Tip 6: Know exactly what you’re doing when you give assignments. If you don’t know how to do it, then we most likely won’t, so what’s the use of that?

Tip 7: Partnership is also a good skill. Let us work in groups if we want. We work well together, and if someone needs help, a group member could help, and get us off your back. Two heads are better than one.

Tip 8: Make sure we can get help before and/or after school. A little help now and then is nice.

Tip 9: If we get done early with a test or assignment and forget to bring something to do, instead of getting mad at us, why not help us out? Maybe get us a crossword or another assignment.

Tip 10: Be a good teacher, be strict, but be nice. A little fear is a good thing, but don’t be mean.

Now that the teachers have some guidelines, here are some tips for students, given by teachers.

Tip 1: Don’t backtalk to us, we try our hardest to understand your problems and help.

Tip 2: Ask us about things you don’t know, it’s good if we can help you. Try not to get a bad grade.

Tip 3: Don’t try to text in class, it’s incredibly obvious, and don’t think that we don’t see those lights.

Tip 4: We know that you don’t necessarily like going to school, but try your hardest. It will only benefit you in the future.

Tip 5: Respect us, and we will respect you.
