W2W: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ lives up to be the sequel everyone’s been waiting for

If you’ve seen the first “Guardians of the Galaxy”, you were probably waiting for the trailers for “Vol. 2” for a long time. Like, right after you finished the end credits. “GOTG Vol. 2” premiered May 5, 2017, and has already become a summer box office hit. The first “Guardians of the Galaxy” was pretty epic by itself. However, the sequel had a different producer, James Gunn, and had a more emotional storyline. The movie’s not like any other space movie. It has comedy, heart-wrenching sides to it, and best of all, Baby Groot. The voice played by Vin Diesel, Groot died in the first movie and was able to come back to life because of a scrap of bark left behind.

“Peter Quinn” a human, (nicknamed ‘Star-Lord’ because he’s the leader) of the Guardians family, was raised by a blue guy named “Yondu”, and ends up finding out that he’s not just human. He’s always wondered who his biological father was and, in the sequel, he finds out who it is. “Ego” a walking, living planet, introduces himself when the Guardians crash on an unknown planet and he does so by simply saying “I’m your father, Peter.” Peter goes with Ego to his planet (because he’s a ‘Celestial’ he has his planet) to find out what the man is talking about. Later to find out, that Ego isn’t an actual father in the emotional sense. What Ego was trying to do was manipulate Peter, his offspring who is half ‘Celestial’, and help him take over the universe.

This sequel is worth the watch because it has many un-awaited twists, emotional deaths, and Baby Groot. Not to mention Sylvester Stallone showing up once again. The opening scene with Baby Groot dancing to cheesy ’70s-’80s tunes will sum up just how good the movie is.
