Due to a whopping 30 turnovers, the Lady Buckaroos suffered a tough loss this past Tuesday, February 1 to the Spring Creek Spartans.

“We just haven’t been able to cut down on our turnovers, which can be game winners,” said LHS coach Jack Smith.

The Lady Buckaroos have had two crucial injuries this season, senior-point guard Rachelle Dennis is out with a knee injury and senior guard Jenae Neu has been out with an ankle injury.

The Bucks only trailed by one at the end of the first quarter, 9-8. However, the Spartans blew the game open in the second, outscoring Lowry 12-2 in the second frame.

LHS had a rough third quarter but came back to regain their momentum towards the end of the fourth frame, but it was too late; the Spartans still outscored lowry 8-6.

“We have been struggling to have four solid quarters,” said Smith.

The Lady Bucks have had a rough season with a record of 2-6 in league play. Losing to SHS was a hard loss for the Bucks since they took the victory away from Spring Creek by 1 point in overtime last season.

“Julia had a good game and played solid defense,” said Jack Smith.

She also had four points. Legarza and Guerrero also contributed four points each.

The Buckaroos are back on the road this Tuesday, February 4 to play Battle Mountain.
