How the “Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000 version) is a great movie to sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch on Christmas Eve. It can be fun for the whole family and it teaches kids a lot about caring.

The Grinch has not always hated Christmas, as a little kid he loved the joy it brought. On a special day at school though he tried to make an impression on a girl, instead he was embarrassed in front of the whole class. Since that day he has not only hated Christmas but the very thought of it. Now every Christmas he tries to ruin it for everybody, so they know how he feels on the inside. There is one girl out there though, Cindy Lou Who, who feels she can change the Grinch and save Christmas for everyone, including the Grinch. She invites him to their annual Whoville Christmas party, says she would be glad if he came. The Grinch starts to have second thoughts about hating it but fights these feelings and decides to crash it instead. Even after he ruins the Christmas party Cindy Lou still believes he can change.

On Christmas Eve the Grinch steals all the toys and food that all the families have saved for Christmas day. He plans to throw them off the side of the cliff so when everyone wakes up there will be no Christmas. Instead of ruining their Christmas, he makes it better, when all the people in Whoville wake up, they gather around their big Christmas tree. Instead of crying over having nothing they sing over what they do have: each other.

The Grinch starts to push everything off and realizes that Cindy Lou is inside the bag that has all the presents in it. He tries to stop it from falling, he succeeds. Then the Grinch and Cindy Lou see that everyone is still having a blast. They take all the toys and everything else back. They all learn that Christmas isn’t about the gifts and presents, it’s about the joy and laughter you can bring to each other.

This movie is one to watch with the whole family including the little ones. It can teach them the true meaning of Christmas, plus it’s fun for the whole family.
