New Anime/Manga Club up-and-coming

By Liam Gallups Posted October 29, 2014

In an attempt to find out if there are any other people like him in the school, Liam Gallups has founded what many believe to be the first Anime/Manga club in Lowry’s history. This club is open to all with a deep interest in Japanese animation and comic books.

As founder of the club and author of this article, I would like to point out that meetings are on Thursdays which may interfere with Art Club meetings. If this is an issue, please note that meetings can also occur on Tuesdays if a motion is passed declaring so. Also, the first meeting will be on October 30, 2014, in room 105 in the Junior hallway across from Mrs. Pasquale’s classroom.

As stated above, this club is open to all who have a deep interest in the subject. If you would like to join but do have not a clue what it is about, here is a brief list of definitions to get you started. Manga refers to comic books in Japan. Anime refers to animation in Japan. An otaku is a person who obsesses over something, usually anime and manga. Cosplay is the act of dressing as your favorite character from fiction.

Some activities the club will do include: watching and discussing various shows and series, producing and selling fan art, fundraisers, and (if funding allows) attending conventions. We can find provisions for competing in competitions for our subject, producing new stories, and much more. As the club’s founder, I can’t wait to see you on the day of the first meeting. Sayonara.
