Every group has a key member who sticks out and helps make the rest of the group shine. Whether it be on stage, backstage or offstage, there is always that person who helps strengthen the group. For example, NWA had Ice Cube, The Beatles had John Lennon and Destiny’s Child had Miss Queen Beyoncé. The Lowry high-school band has Matthew Munk.

Paul Criddle, band director selected Munk as Performer of the Week without as much as a second.

“Matthew has excelled at learning his part and has been an active participant every day in class. He has a great attitude every day and is very beneficial to the trombone section,” said Criddle.

Munk has played trombone in the Lowry band all three years he has attended Lowry and has even said he will be doing it again his senior year.
“I like to think I am a pretty good trombonist and I think being a four-year band student will be awesome and a hefty accomplishment,” said Munk. Munk even admitted he would like to continue playing trombone after graduation.
