‘The 100’: A blast into the future

In case of a nuclear war, don’t worry, there’s a backup space shuttle waiting for us in space. Or at least in television shows.

The show ‘The 100’ is set in post-apocalyptic times after a nuclear war destroys all of civilization on Earth. The only survivors are those on 12 international space stations in orbit at the time. Three generations later 4,000 people are stuck in space and running low on supplies and also oxygen. With not a lot of oxygen left in the supply, the chancellor of the ship decides to send 100 teenage prisoners to Earth to see if it is inhabitable, risking all of their lives to radiation. The 100 get to Earth to not only find out that it is very much survivable, but also that they are not alone.

This show is great because it adds an exciting plot and the setting is based in a near future dystopian society and all together, it is tied together well. I strongly recommend it to anyone. Currently, there are two seasons of “The 100” and are both available on Netflix.
