The snow is finally falling, and the fires are crackling as Christmas makes its annual visit to many people’s lives. With Christmas comes many Christmas traditions, such as the stockings hung on the mantel above the fireplace, or the popcorn strung along the Christmas tree. Last but most certainly not least, comes all the amazing Christmas songs heard on Pandora, Spotify, the radio, and other music streaming devices. But if you are one of the people who enjoy special festive treats, then you absolutely must attend the annual Holiday Concert performed by the Lowry High School Swing and Women’s Choirs on December 18, 2015.
The swing choir will be doing an assortment of Christmas medleys to help prove that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Some of the most popular Christmas songs sung all around the world will be included in the choir medley. Including popular titles such as “Frosty the Snowman”, “Blue Christmas”, and “Jingle Bells”.
Not only do the jolly choir kids perform at the high school, but they also will be touring all over Winnemucca! From the senior citizen center to the French Ford and Junior High. Haydn Sullivan (junior) and Julie Mendoza (senior) are both very excited to perform, “You’re My Christmas Angel”, which is a mellow Christmas tune. While traveling from school to school, the choir kids will select a festive name for themselves to humor the young children. What this means, is instead of introducing themselves around town using their real names, they will select the name of a Christmas character, for example, Rudolph or Frosty.
“I get very excited this time of year. It makes me happy to see all those smiling kids when we go on tour,” said senior and four-year choir student Shayla Meyers. This will truly be an event you will want to stick around for.
