Unmasking this year’s Prom

April showers bring May flowers, which will be made into corsages. Prom is coming up soon and the countdown to May 7 is on.

This year’s event will be held at the Winnemucca Convention Center and is sponsored by the junior class. The theme will be Masquerade. The doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Tickets and rule sheets will be sold in Mrs. Mattson’s room at lunch starting after spring break; the price of tickets is $65 for a couple and $50 for a single ticket. Decorating will be held after school at the convention center every day, one week before the event.

Remember you and your parents must sign the rules statement and return it to Mrs. Mattson.

“Anyone is welcome to come help decorate. We will need any help we can get so we can have a successful prom and in the end that is the most important thing,” said junior class vice president Annaleise Gabica.

Just in case some of you are a little nervous here are some tips for both boys and girls.

Have fun! At the end of the day, it is just another dance plus you paid a lot of money just to go so make it enjoyable. If you have a pimple or a red spot, put an ice cube on it for 30 seconds and it should reduce the redness; learned this from Pinterest and it works wonders. Take a lot of pictures— not just on a smartphone, but on a real camera as well.

The dress style that seems to be topping the charts this year is the mermaid and the a-line dresses according to PromGirl. But if the dress isn’t you, don’t break the bank trying to fit in. Get a dress that fits you and is something you would be comfortable dancing in all night.
