What to Watch: ‘Good Mythical Morning’

By Aimee Brandon Posted May 15, 2014

Good Mythical Morning, GMM is a YouTube channel where Rhett and Link, two men in a mid-life crisis of being too funny, talk about various subjects in a five to fifteen-minute video. Viewers are referred to as mythical beasts.

Rhett and Link discuss many things whether they are the talk of the world or random opinions. Some of their more recent topics have been Extreme Animal Invasions, 5 New Music Genres, The Google Name Game, and Best Way To Eat Your Lunch.  GMM has also done other things besides people talking in front of the camera for example an animated series and music videos to songs they have made up. In the original GMM they would begin the show with their title sequence, and throughout the show they would feature another popular YouTuber, show a new music video, the next episode of their animated 3-minute show “Forest Patrol,” and a commercial they created for a local business.

In the new version of the show, they discuss things. Rhett and Link also create podcasts in which they have comedic discussions furthering the topic in the video that day. Also, every Thursday is Mail Day, when they choose a few of the many things sent to them and share the items and letters.

To wrap up every episode they spin the Wheel of Mythicality, on which are various ideas of endings to the show, usually a brief improvised scene, sent in by the Mythical Beasts, that Rhett and Link have to act out. Some past endings have been Rhett impersonates Link, howl like wolves, halftime speech, soap opera, improv song, and Rhett leaves angry.

A new episode of Good Mythical Morning is posted on YouTube every weekday.
