‘The Little Mermaid’ coming to Lowry’s stage

The upcoming children’s play being produced by the Drama and Stagecrafts class is “The Little Mermaid”. The play is scheduled to be performed from April 11-15.

Junior, Hannah Hillyer, who plays one of the sisters to the Little Mermaid, said “It’s not the traditional Little Mermaid. Although it has the same characters and relative plot, it’s not the classic that everyone knows.“

Hillyer could not explain any more what is different from this production to the standard production of The Little Mermaid because it would give too much away.

Another Drama student, Clay Erquiaga, added “In my opinion it’s a bit more developed we do have a couple differences. One, the prince has a brother, the Little Mermaid is a lot more unique and intricate in how she plays up her five sisters. The Kings have a dynamic that is nice to see. The villain I think is really funny with how diabolical she can be”

Hillyer went on to talk about the production of the play so far.

“It’s coming along well. We are hand making most of our costumes and they are turning out beautiful. It’s difficult to make the scenes, because we have to make most of the scenes underwater,” said Hillyer.

Hillyer continued “This is going to be one of the most extravagant plays Lowry has ever put on, and you’re going to have to come to see the magic!”

The play will be on April 12, 13, and 14. Admission is $3.00 per student and $5.00 per adult.
